Ok, the cherries are done. There are no more to pick. We ate as many as we could, but they were SO PERFECTLY RIPE when we picked them and so I’ve preserved the rest. Cherry jam, cherries preserved in vanilla syrup, and pickled cherries. 

I have been driving by this sign every day for a week now:


We got extra cukes and zukes this week in our share from the local CSA. This kind of abundance is really lucky, so I’m really trying to make the most of all of it. So now, I am suddenly gripped with this urge to make pickles! What is this?
